Bargain Shopping: Korea Fashion District

The Fashion District in Korea is located in Dong Dae Mun – 동대문마켓. If you’re ever in Korea you MUST visit this place! There’s retail and wholesale vendors – both sell to people like you and me.

There are over 8 buildings – I’m pretty much ready to go home after visiting 2-3 buildings. A couple of the wholesale buildings: Nuzzon, U:US, etc .. open at 8PM and close in the AM! It’s all here: apparel, accessories, textiles, and more! You can find really cute and great made clothes for a bargain, keep in mind this isn’t designer – think of Forever 21 clothing but, some are better quality with reduced prices.

Vendors are side-by-side on each floor

Fashion’s Night Out 2010: Vogue and CBS

I can’t believe Fashion’s Night Out is here again. So many stores participated last year- LOTS OF FUN! I was in New York then… I might be in NY for the upcoming September 10, 2010 FNO event. We’ll see … The proceeds from the sales is donated to the New York City AIDS Fund.

This date brings out so much energy in people, if it happens in your city you MUST participate. Last year, New York, Paris, London, Milan, Berlin, Madrid, Moscow, Athens, Taipei, Tokyo, Beijing and New Delhi held a FNO event. International editions of Vogue are supporting to make this happen and London’s Fashion Night Out 2010 is confirmed.

In NY, Anna Wintour gets very involved – last year she visited a couple store this night. And I heard from Fashionista this year “On September 7, Fashion’s Night Out is hosting what they claim will be the biggest fashion show ever staged in New York City.

We felt it is important for people see what wonderful fashion will be in stores at that moment. This show will focus on the key trends we’ve identified for Fall so that shoppers will have plenty of inspiration to join the fun during Fashion’s Night Out,” says Anna Wintour.

Vogue’s partnering with Spec Entertainment to produce the show, which, when combined with FNO’s proven celebrity presence should make for a successful special on CBS on September 15.”

Shop It To Me: Better than Sample Sales

Doesn’t it just irritate you when you miss those SALES? I know.

Earlier this week I met two women working on the marketing team for Shop It To Me, during a marketing/communications mixer at my school.

“Our first service, Shop It To Me Apparel, proactively sends you clothing that matches your size and brand preferences as soon as it goes on sale”

The online platform allows for new and innovative ways for more convenience, simplicity, and affordability in ones life – on that same note, Shop It To Me is definitely making it more convenient, simple and affordable to shop online :)

If you know of sites similar to Shop It To Me, please share?

NY Sample Sales, I Soon Will Enjoy Thee Too

Sample sales, oh sweet sample sales! Let me explain for those who are not clear what they exactly are…

Sample sales: are used by businesses to get rid of extra merchandise, for example items that stores need to get rid of to make shelf space for the next seasons incoming collections, or those who simply hold sales to attract new clients. Regardless, sample sales are mutually beneficial for both companies and consumers. Think of them as super-duper-bargain-buying, it’s bargain buying for sure because the prices are discounted anywhere from 10-90% off. Oh, they’re super-duper because most sample sales have an amazing selection of designer items. If you can think it, there’s a sales for it.

For those of your who can’t physically attend these sales, don’t fret … and remember we have the internet, duh! There’s online companies devoted to just what I’ve been talking about – sample sales! Here are two:  I Love Sample Sales   ♥   Savvy + Co.

Jumeau Bags under the Andramine Label

 ♥ Hi fellow fashion lovers!

Rebecca from Andramine contacted me with some exciting information about a new collection of bags ….

I want to introduce a new collection of bags called JUMEAU for the fall/winter 2007 season.

Jumeau is young and hip with funky colors and prints, each design comes in at least 3 or 4 colors.

They have four collections:  Click on the titles to take a look at their lookbook…

Institution Collection: is a fusion between form and function. The Institution collection uses “NeauStop” – next generation rip-stop fabric, wrinkle-free with soft exterior. NeauStop makes the bags in this collection virtually indestructible. ($75-$229 Retail)

NowCollection: features designs that are trendy, cutting edge, and progressive. “Now” is an ageless look for anyone who wants to be exciting and in fashion Now.
($55-$99 Retail)

Commando Collection: progressiveseries that goes beyond any limitation. These urban designs give functionality and style for those individuals that are on the go and mean business. The commando collection uses our proprietary and patented “Triple-Dense Nylon” – high density, Extra-strong, extra-light, durable nylon. ($75-$139 Retail)

GreenCollection: The green collection is the style of the future. Focusing on natural materials such as organic cotton, bamboo and natural dyes, this collection takes fashion to an Earth friendly sustainable level. ($75-$229 Retail)

Check the bags out, and let me know what do you think?  Personally, I like all the pockets and versitility with these bags!

Thanks Rebecca!

Savvy Circle, Savvy Shopping :)

A fellow shopaholic reached out to me about a site her and her siblings started! Called:

This service is probably what many of us wished were available- all those times you shop online and want to get something… BUT, can’t seem to purchase it because … 1. it’s way too over priced  2. you just know that it’s going to go on sale or  3. you don’t feel like you’re getting a deal (you know it always feels better when you’re getting deal!)

WELL, no need to fear all you shoppers out there … Savvy Circle has solved those problems.

Here’s how it works:

1) Download a plug-in for your browser (shows up as a little button near the URL box) and start online shopping on Savvy Circle’s supported sites.

2) When you see a product you like, click the Savvy Circle button in your browser.

3) They’ll watch the product for you. As soon as it goes on sale, you’ll receive an email with the sale price.

Isn’t this awesome? !

Stunning electric Marc Jacobs Coat! ♥

  HI everyone! HAPPY NEW 2008!

So, the weathers been getting extremely cold – no joke.

Coming from Hawaii – LA is freezing!

I’ve invested in a new coat, one from Marc by Marc Jacobs. I’m in love with it. Originally, I was shopping around for a black one and then – this color! For winter, darker colors are always a better bet :) Don’cha think?

Well, according to the New York Times, fashion designers seem to be using a fair amount of blues recently in their recent runway work. …

“There has indeed been a surge of blue on the runways in the last year, beginning last February with Raf Simons’s dresses and pantsuits, in an Yves Klein blue, for Jil Sander and extending into the spring 2008 collections with Nicolas Ghesquiere’s explosive floral prints for Balenciaga. Mr. Elbaz used a deep lagoon blue in his spring Lanvin show, and one found lighter but no less robust shades in collections by Marni and Chloé, and in the men’s lines of Prada and Alexander McQueen. Dolce & Gabbana called its new fragrance Light Blue. And JWT, the advertising and marketing company, just named blue as one of the top 10 trends for 2008, saying that “blue is the new green,” particularly as it denotes ecological concerns.”

Thanks, Color + Design

A fabulous dress by Zac Posen :)
