San Francisco Fashion Awards: Dress The Part

July 26, 2009 · 1 Comment

“Can I please, please pretty please have these ensembles!”

Phillip Lim (my favorite)

Alexander Wang

Rachel Comey

I love getting ready to go anywhere, don’t you? And I admire people who spend the EXTRA time to prep and make pretty pretty, because style and the way you dress communicates a message about yourself. No? With that said, I would proudly wear all three of these! For now, I’ll have to use them for inspiration and refashion my outfits to compliment what I have in my closet …

Ohhh, the San Francisco Fashion Awards are tomorrow. What to wear, what to wear

Sienna Miller, short spanks ?!?

November 9, 2007 · 5 Comments

♥   Sienna Miller was born on December 28, 1981 in New York City.  She was once engaged to Jude Law (before he cheated on her with his childrens nanny). She now has her own clothing line Twenty8Twelve by s. miller she manages with her sister Savannah. And the one thing that everyone knows about her is her sense of style.  Very individualistic!  Sometimes she’s dressed very casual, then there’s the “woah, that’s out there” impressions from her outfits, there’s her glamourous look, and then there’s the “what are you trying – it’s a bit over the edge” look. Have you guys seen her out and about in her spanks yet?!

Those bottoms are called spanx, founded by Sara Blakely

On the cover of Londons Vogue – she looks so much taller in here, the theme of this cover is fabulous.

Here with Steve Buscemi – this is one of her better looks, my eyes can’t help but focus right to her coat (who knows what she’s wearing inside) :)

I don’t even know what to say here, I’m not really a fan of belts but, this dress could have used some help from one. She’s at an Awards Show, why this granny dress on this day.  She has no form or figure and it looks messy.

Thanks to Sienna, many trends and fads have popped up here and there – but, what do you think about the fastening of shoes over pants?  I’m not totally against it, but caution because it doesn’t just go with everything.

Her signature look: tights with a longer length top, topped off with high pumps!  I like when she portrays the classic look because it really complements her

Left: very cozy and busy                         Right: tights with short short spanks

So recently she’s been spotted rocking these short spanks … I’m not going to say “Oh, gawd! That looks horrible” because I think she can pull it off. Instead, I’m going think she’s more daring then I am. I wouldn’t be able to leave my house in that! Would you?!!!

Here with ANNA WINTOUR (VOGUE) - I don’t know what it is, Sienna’s ensemble is less appealing than usual.

She is awesome! I mean, even though she seems to be wearing no pants (left) she continues to march proudly!

 “What do you guys think?”

I think there are those who can pull off this look, but I can imagine the discomfort. Pulling them up and down, making sure it’s smooth all around, top and bottom (as you can see in this picture – that is not that case)… I would rather not go through that. Hey, who knows? They just might be the opposite of my unimpressed observations.

Paris, Milan – Street Style. Global Fashion

October 31, 2007 · Leave a Comment

♥  I love to see pictures of people out and about – seriously, trends start on the streets, our streets!

On the streets of Milan, I really dig these girls, especially their heights! I love the denim skinny pants on this girl, the fit looks flawless!  Let’s be honest – it’s really hard to find the perfect skinny pants with the absolutely perfect fit. It truly represents the woman is refined and elegant.

I am growing quite fond of colors black and white. I love that you can make bold statements using one or two dominant color…  black is effortlessly fashionable!

I love the combinations of items with these four styles (top and bottom two) - their tasteful and stylish screaming with attitude! My favorite is the top left photo, I love her collaboration of the ankle boots with her top outfit. The look is very darling in a bold sense.

I can’t agree with everyones style… there’s the modish and then the “rather not’s”

(left) I don’t like the length of her pants  – the tailored look is not one of favorites (right) she can pull off the socks, but it might’ve been better without the turquoise/white polka-dot socks

[thanks for The Sartorialist's Scott Schuman]
